| This new law requires the California Air Resources Board to include a comprehensive strategy to achieve a 20% net reduction in the GHG emissions caused by the manufacturing of building materials by December 31, 2030, and a 40% net reduction no later than December 31, 2035. This bill would require a life cycle assessment to determine the carbon intensity of materials incorporated into public and private buildings, within both residential and commercial sectors. Attendees will learn how to comply with the new law. For example, meeting the law’s goals may require manufacturers to move to clean energy sources for their manufacturing process. Builders and contractors may need to identify lower-carbon materials for their projects and design professionals may need to design buildings with lower carbon material configurations. There are also important off-ramps if the goals are infeasible or too costly. Who should attend: Builders (land acquisition, project managers, purchasing, land development), contractors, design professionals, manufacturers, and suppliers. |
